Yellowstone County Jail Addition

Project Overview

Location: Billings, MT
Size:26,290 sf New Housing- Addition
9,100 sf Kitchen and Laundry Remodel and Storage Addition Cost: $11.8m
Completion: Fall 2019

Project Description

Due to overuse and failing security electronic components, SFA team provide a detailed on -site review of the system in this 286-bed facility, built in 1986.

Our challenge was to provide required security with minimum downtime for system switch over. Main control and secondary max control were tied together to allow takeover of the entire system by either control room if the need occurred.

To be sensitive to cost our detailed inventory allowed us to select some devices or systems to remain with an easy change-out should a failure occur.

Both control stations were completely gutted, and this could on happen after infrastructure was all in place and proper take-over by the second station had occurred. The project was completed with out incident.
